Last week, the Colombian government approved three days without Value-Added Tax (“VAT”) to support the revival of the country’s economy.
On June 19th, July 3rd and July 19th, Colombians will be able to buy products without the 19% tax under the condition that the payment will be made in debit or credit card, or other electronic payment and only up yo three units of the same product can be purchased.
Colombians will be able to buy seven categories of products without the tax: clothing, clothing accessories, household appliances, sports equipment, toys and games, school supplies, and supplies for the agricultural sector.
This Saturday, the Colombian government released the maximum values and quantities of products that could be purchased. According to La República, in the case of clothing, for example, each item purchased may cost a maximum of COP 712,140, and a maximum of 20 items may be purchased.
