Amazon expands shipments of nonessential items

The online giant retailer Amazon will now allow third-party sellers on its platform to resume shipping nonessential during the coronavirus pandemic, as Valor Econômico reported.

In March the company decided to prioritize at its warehouses items deemed of essential needs in the outbreak, such as cleaning products, health-care items and shelf-stable food. By selling only essential products, Amazon caused unrest among third-party sellers, which account for 58% of Amazon’s sales. That’s why they reversed it.

Even during the pandemic, Amazon has received thousands of orders. As a result, its network of distribution centers has been struggling to keep up with demand, and the order delivery time on its Prime program, which was of one day before the pandemic, can now reach up to a month.
