This Thursday during Uber’s release of its first-quarter 2020 results, the company’s CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said that the conclusion of Cornershop acquisition is a key move for Eats growth in Latin America.

The Chilean-Mexican grocery delivery startup Cornershop arrived in São Paulo in late January 2020. Today, the company also operates in Chile, Mexico, Canada, Peru, Colombia, and, most recently, in the United States.

To LABS, Cornershop’s Head of Operations in Brazil, Andressa Carrasqueira, informed that, as part of its strategy, the company plans to launch in a new Brazilian city every week.

Today customers of the application can already place orders in São Paulo, Osasco, Barueri, Santo André, São Bernardo, São Caetano, Porto Alegre, Curitiba, and Rio de Janeiro. The platform already has a large number of served stores in the country too, including large chains such as Carrefour and Grupo Big. Soon more locations will be included in the list of cities.

Cornershop’s added value, when compared to other delivery apps, is its Shoppers, who are specialists in purchasing and select the products requested by the customer with the same care that he would have. Likewise, if any of the requested products are not available in the store, Shopper offers product substitutions with the same characteristics and delivers to the customer in 90 minutes, or at the time scheduled by him in the app.
