Carrefour teams up with Glovo in Argentina

Spanish start-up will also be used by the supermarket group in France, Spain and Italy

Carrefour announced the partnership with Glovo, a spanish start-up, to provide better and faster home deliveries in Argentina, Italy, Spain and France. According to Reuters, the service aims to deliver 2,500 products to customers’ homes within 30 minutes.

With this new partnership, Glovo and Carrefour will offer a 30-minute home delivery service that complements their existing e-commerce offers and allows them to address the needs of new customers”, said Carrefour director Amélie Oudéa-Castéra to the agency, confirming that the company will now bet heavily on home delivery service, following its rivals Casino, that works with Amazon, and Marks & Spencer, who recently announced a joint venture with Ocado.

The partnership between Carrefour and Glovo in Argentina comes a few months after the deal expansion between the supermarket company and Rappi, another start-up focused on deliveries. Founded in Colombia, Rappi has a priority agreement with Carrefour’s online purchases – the expectation is to reach 30% of total online retail sales in the country by the end of this year.
