The new coronavirus pandemic caused food delivery orders to skyrocket. A new survey by CVA Solutions, with more than 2,700 consumers in 12 cities in Brazil, and obtained first hand by Exame, indicates the preferences of Brazilians in the segment.

When asked about which meal delivery service they use most, 71% said iFood, 18% Uber Eats, 5% Rappi, and 2% 99Food (service recently launched by Brazilian 99, previously focused only on travel passengers per application).

iFood also wins as the best-known service, followed by Uber Eats (87%) and Rappi (76%). These three apps are much better known than their other competitors (James Delivery, Loggi, 99Food), which together account for less than 20% of responses.

When it comes to requests for delivery in general, not just food, the scenario changes. In this case, Rappi and Lojas Americanas lead the preferences, followed by Delivery, James, and Loggi, in addition to apps from retailers such as Magalu, Casas Bahia, and MercadoLibre. In this segment of general deliveries, however, the dispute is more fierce, since no one is a leader in consumer preferences. Rappi comes in first with only 8% of responses.
